QUICK ANSWER

Enter through East Doloc, use the Copper Pickaxe to clear the main boulder, and treat Copper Axe, Copper Sickle, double jump and sprint as separate return-trip gates.

How to unlock River Valley

Follow the opening main story until the route east of Doloc Town becomes available, then enter Rivervalley through East Doloc near Lank. You can explore the entrance and lower resource route before owning every Copper tool. The main progression gate is the large river blockage that requires a Copper Pickaxe; clearing it opens the deeper route toward the Outpost.

Do not confuse Rivervalley with Ridge Valley. The dry-season water-level route reported for Ridge Valley is not the unlock condition for this page. Rivervalley instead uses separate tool and movement gates: Copper Pickaxe, Copper Axe, Copper Sickle, double jump and sprint should each be marked independently.

Unlock and return-trip requirements

| Map stage | Requirement | What it opens | | --- | --- | --- | | First entry | Opening story progress | East Doloc entrance, Lank, lower valley resources and early objectives | | River blockage | Copper Pickaxe | Main boulder, deeper Copper/Coal access and progress toward the Outpost | | Western Rockwood | Copper Axe | Western route and Rivervalley Bamboo resources | | Botanical Lab vines | Copper Sickle | Vine-blocked route near the Botanical Lab | | Upper platforms | Double jump / Jetpack | High ledges, hidden resources and the route toward the top sign | | Long horizontal sections | Sprint | Faster traversal and access around movement-sensitive obstacles | | Outpost services | Clear the blockage and advance Mira's task | Outpost tasks, Sleeping Bag, the Charcoal Kiln reward and bus connection |

The Copper Pickaxe is the first major access purchase because it affects story progress and mining in the same trip. Copper Axe and Copper Sickle are not substitutes for the pickaxe: they remove different barriers on later return routes. Upgrade them when the matching Rockwood, Bamboo or Botanical Lab objective becomes useful.

The old resource route describes Rivervalley as four vertical layers. It consistently identifies Copper and Coal on the first two layers and an Iron point on the left side of the third layer, where enemies are more dangerous. A complete fourth-layer resource list is To be confirmed, so the map should not add ore icons there without an in-game capture.

Tool gates and what to mark

Use a Pickaxe icon only at the large boulder, large junk or mining gates that truly require it. The Axe icon belongs on the western Rockwood and Bamboo route, while the Sickle icon belongs near Botanical Lab vines. This prevents a player from arriving with the wrong Copper tool after a long walk.

Double jump and sprint are movement abilities rather than ore tools. Mark high ledges, long gaps and return-only shortcuts separately, and distinguish them from the first entry route. A player should be able to read the map as two layers: what is possible on the first visit and what becomes possible after movement upgrades.

Best resource routes

| Route | Recommended order | Main goal | When to return | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | First short trip | Farm → East Doloc → Lank → lower resources → return | Storage tasks, early Copper/Coal and entrance orientation | Return when inventory is nearly full or farm care is unfinished | | Pickaxe story route | Entrance → lower mine → Large Boulder → Outpost | Clear the river, progress the story and open Outpost services | Stop at Outpost to check Mira and bus requirements | | Dedicated mining day | Bus to Outpost → lower Copper/Coal → Hidden Coal Cave → Iron Point | Concentrated ore collection with less walking | Carry boxes, food and a Sleeping Bag | | Axe return route | Western Rockwood → Bamboo area → Bamboo Shoots | Wood, Bamboo and repeatable food materials | Revisit every two or three days instead of daily | | Sickle return route | Botanical Lab vines → nearby branches | Clear vegetation and advance the related objective | Combine with a Botanical Lab task | | Upper landmark route | Lower valley → upper platforms → Top Sign | Achievement landmark and hidden exploration | Attempt after double jump and sprint are available |

On the first trip, finish farm chores before leaving and use Cardboard Boxes for Stone, Wood, Fiber and ore. Boxes allow repeated pickups to stack without consuming ordinary inventory slots, which reduces emergency return trips. Food and a repaired tool are more valuable than carrying every optional machine part into the valley.

The dedicated mining route becomes much better after the Bus Station is repaired. Fast travel does not consume the same in-game walking time, so a mining day can include more collection and still leave time to unload at the farm. The reported Hidden Coal Cave is useful when Coal blocks Copper Ingot production, but its exact version 1.0 doorway remains To be confirmed.

Outpost services and rewards

| Outpost feature | Confirmed information | What to do | | --- | --- | --- | | Mira's task | Available after clearing the blockage and reaching the Outpost | Deliver the requested item before buying duplicate technology | | Charcoal Kiln | Sent by mail on the following day after the related task | Do not spend early research points on the same machine first | | Sleeping Bag | Recorded at about 150G from Mira | Use in monster-free places to sleep, recover and save on long routes | | Outpost trash / Drone | Better Drone loot has been reported outside | Check the trash, but treat the reward as To be confirmed until seen | | Weapon attachment | Heavy Pistol attachment has been reported | Keep inventory space; fixed placement is To be confirmed | | Bus connection | Links the Outpost with Town and Farm after repair | Make the Outpost the anchor for deep mining and fishing routes |

The Charcoal Kiln reward is the most important planning detail. Clearing the blockage, delivering Mira's requested item and checking the next day's mail can save research points that would otherwise duplicate the same unlock. The Sleeping Bag is inexpensive compared with the time lost to a failed long route and helps prevent the late-night penalty.

Outpost trash should be searched, but the map must not promise a guaranteed Drone or attachment. The collected gameplay source describes those finds, while fixed spawn behavior in every version 1.0 save is To be confirmed. Display the point as optional loot rather than a required progression marker.

Bus Stations and travel cost

The Bus Station repair becomes available through the mayor's task list after the relevant story meeting. Repairing Farm, Town and Outpost stations creates the useful transport triangle for crops, shops and Rivervalley resources. The complete repair material list is To be confirmed because no reliable collected source provides every requirement.

Use a Bus Ticket when available. A July 2026 guide reports that travel can also be purchased for 30G when no Ticket is held, but the exact version 1.0 interface remains To be confirmed. Koi aquaculture can produce Bus Tickets, turning a fishing investment into lower long-term transport cost.

Achievement landmarks

| Achievement | Official description | Correct map treatment | | --- | --- | --- | | Mayor's Glory | Cleaned up the Rivervalley | Attach to the main river-cleanup progression node | | Doloc, Our New Home | Read the sign at the top of Rivervalley | Mark the Top Sign as a required interaction point | | Beyond Their Grasp | Unlocked double jump | Use as a movement-ability legend, not a physical location | | A Flash of Light | Unlocked sprint | Use as a movement-ability legend, not a physical location | | Leap of Faith | Community route places it at Mountains – Cliff | Do not place it on the core Rivervalley map |

Mayor's Glory and Doloc, Our New Home are the two direct Rivervalley completion markers. The first follows the cleanup objective, while the second requires reading the top sign rather than merely reaching the area. Double jump and sprint achievements explain access states but do not prove that any particular landmark has been visited.

What not to put on the map

Do not import Ridge Valley's dry-season water condition into Rivervalley. Do not show a fixed fourth-layer ore layout, permanent NPC position or guaranteed Outpost trash reward without a version 1.0 capture. Separate confirmed points from To be confirmed community reports so the visual route remains useful after patches.

The map should use six layers: main story, tool gates, resources, water types, transport and risk. Mark stronger enemies near the reported Iron point, distinguish one-way drops from normal paths, and show refill water only where the character can actually reach it. This is more useful than a decorative map with every icon presented at the same confidence level.
